About me: Michelle Brown
I was raised in Sioux City Iowa by my mother who moved to the United States from Vietnam during the war.
We did not have much in the beginning, but my mother reassured me that, with hard work, you can accomplish anything.

When I was about 7 years old I began working in my mothers gas station business running the cash register, stocking shelves, and keeping the space clean.
​
When I turned 14, I got my workers permit and began working at a hardware store and worked there for 5 years.
Extracurricular Activities
While going to school, besides working, I participated in a few extracurricular activities.
​
For 13 years, I practiced gymnastics. I joined the Junior Olympics and began competing around the U.S. for about 7 years. During this intense sport, I learned determination and teamwork.

While in gymnastics, I joined my high school track team and ran races for 4 years. I was given school records for events including the hurdles.
I took private acting lessons at Lamb Theatre for two years. These lessons helped me to be comfortable speaking in front of people.
Education:
The University of Northern Iowa
I began my education in nursing. I studied for 2 years, volunteered and shadowed at a hospital, and I realized that nursing was not where my passion lies.

It was a journey finding out what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. I wanted a different perspective so I studied and lived in Africa for half a year.
Marketing, Advertising, and Digital Media
My graduation date is coming to a close in May 2019. I can look back to see my journey of how I got to where I am today. So how did I choose business out of all of the majors?

Well, I knew that I have always had great creativity and an interest in art, makeup, and etc. I looked at my options and found the creative part of businesses - marketing!
I look forward to the new challenges and experiences that come in the next stage of my career.
